Join us as a volunteer next year! Each year, from September to December, we offer 18 or 21 day-long stays where you will be at sea collecting data on whale sharks. We are looking for French speakers who are confident swimmers – sounds like you? We will start recruiting in February 2020.
We currently do not offer bachelor or master thesis projects for students.
Whale shark season in Nosy Be runs from September to December; the best time to see them is in October and November. You can join us for a day in the water to swim with whale sharks, as our team goes out daily with clients. Contact Les Baleines Rand’eau directly either by email or phone ahead of time as it is the busy season.
From 2020 onwards, you can also request a private trip (4 people max.) with project founder Stella Diamant. On this trip you will learn more about our research and get to know whale sharks by their names, as well as get personalised photos.
Please contact us with your dates ASAP.
Project Leader Stella Diamant will host a private week-long trip with travel company Aqua-Firma, who has been supporting us financially since the project started. The 2020 dates are open for bookings so have a look at the trip details!
Stella will also be leading the project’s second expedition to Antetikireja in October 2020. Stay posted for more details !
